Liability Insurance

Liability Insurance
4C Council advises providers to purchase liability insurance to protect themselves in the case of an injury occurring to a child due to possible negligence. There are many different types of liability insurance to consider:

  • Carry liability insurance for injuries to children caused by negligence in the amount of $100,000 per occurrence, or $300,000 annual total.
  • Purchase a bond in the amount of $300,000.
  • Require a signed affidavit stating that the parent is aware that the provider "carries no liability insurance".

Note: Liability Insurance is a standard business consideration. Because each provider will need a policy with specific liabilities for their child care program, it is important for you to exercise consumer rights and explore the appropriate insurance liability coverage.
