The 4C Council conducts a wide range of workshops and seminars for Licensed Family Child Care providers, Child Care Center staff, and License Exempt Providers(family or friends).

Babble, Motions, Speak of Notions

*****Note: This is a three-part workshop--January 8, January 15 and January 29, 2008--You must attend all three classes*****

This is a three-part workshop that takes you through the physical and mental developmental stages that babies experience when learning how to talk. The workshop explores how an infant's movement and coordination of hands, eyes, ears and brain help develop language and sounds. You will learn how the provider or parent can help an infant develop their language skills. Presented by Theresa Stewart, President, Peninsula Association for the Education of Young Children. You must attend all three parts, January 8, January 15 and January 29, 2008.

Loss, Trauma and Young Children

This workshop addresses the emotional impact of loss and trauma on young children. The course explores the provider's role in helping children cope with stressful events, such as divorce, separation and changing caregivers. Presented by UC Davis.

Health & Safety: Preventative Health Workshops (For Child Care Providers Only)

**Must attend both classes: February 2 & 9, 2008**

This is an EMSA(Emergency Medical Services Authority) Approved Training and can be applied to the preventative health practices training required for licensing of a family child care home or Center. This 7 hours course includes the following topics: Infectious Disease Prevention, Child Injury Prevention, Childhood Immunizations, Child Abuse Identification & Prevention, Identifying Children with Special Needs, Caring for Mildly Ill Children. Presented by Cyndi Torres-Ricca, American Red Cross Certified Instructor.
